"Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health.  And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies never having lived."

March 2011

Wow, life can really kick into high gear and months pass by in the blink of an eye. Sorry to those who have kept telling me to update my blog. A new job and family and friends coming to visit often has made the last few months very fun and exciting, as well as time consuming.  It seems my days with endless time to ski, backpack, and mountain bike have become expectedly limited.  Ah, those were the days though.  Lucky for me, my parents and brothers came out to visit last week and we spent a week in Breckenridge doing nothing but skiing. Other friends in town in neighboring Keystone made for even more fun, everybody stepping their game up and just killing it on the mountain. We had a great time, and its always amazing what time with family can do for the soul.  Seven days in a condo in the mountains ripping the slopes with family is my definition of RELAXATION, I long for it again already.  Until next March I will have to settle for making the most of the remaining ski season on my few days off.  The weather is already getting warm on the Front Range, with golfers and mountain bikers dusting off gear and getting outside.  I'm stoked for the Summer for sure, but I'm going to enjoy the next month of resort snow and 2 months of stable back country snow before i give up on Winter.  With basketball season getting towards playoff time and baseball season around the corner, the Denver sports scene has been hopping.  Exciting times around here, I love it.  I hope you all out there are healthy and happy, I look forward to the next time we connect. Until then, be healthy, get out, and enjoy life! It's crazy how fast it can move, make sure your blur is filled with love and enjoyment. Hit me up anytime.  One love

Merry Xmas

Merry xmas to everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas with family and friends.  Its good to be back in Des Moines for a couple days to spend time with my family.  I wish we could have gotten up to Wisconsin to see everyone, but due to the weather we didnt get into Iowa until late Christmas eve and missed the chance to make it up North.  Man, it is sure cold here, Colorado has been pretty nice this fall/winter temperature wise so this Midwest weather has me freezing.  If it's going to be this cold and snowy, I want my mountains.  Its too bad that I'm only in town for 3-4 days, I really wanted to see everyone, just dont have time.  I'll try to make some time to get back before Spring.  Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope all is well and I miss you all.  Here's to everyone finishing off 2010 with health and happiness. If you didnt accomplish what you wanted to this year, no worries, there's still 5 days left, go do it.  One love.

Mid December

What is up people, hope you all are doing well.  Been kind of slacking on posting on my blog lately, keeping busy i guess.  The weather here on the front range has been pretty warm as of late.  No snow, mid 50's-60 degrees out almost everyday, although that is supposed to end before xmas. Ive even been able to get out on the golf course and basketball courts in December, crazy.  Luckily, a quick drive up a few thousand feet of vertical and there is snow everywhere.  When not in the backcountry, the resort of choice for me is Breckenridge, and the snow up there has been over 40% more than average, making for some fun powder days.  Today, the Winter Dew Tour started up at Breck and is showcasing the top pipe and park skiers and snowboarders in the world.  I cant wait to get up there and scope out what they can do live, look for it on NBC this sat and sun.  As for me, all is well: happy, healthy, just living life to the limits. Well, gonna run, skis need a fresh wax. Hope to see everyone back home in just over a week while Im back for Christmas, take care.  One Love

Late November

Well, its getting to be late November, and the winter weather has arrived here.  There have been storms bringing in 5-20 inches of snow in the mountains around here, making for some pretty happy people who were hoping the La Nina effect would be large this year, me included.  Hopefully La Nina will continue to dump powder on the Rockies at a steady rate for the next 5 months or so and make for an epic season. The resorts are almost all open now, so hiking for turns wont be as necessary anymore.  Perfect timing, as the large amounts of snow in small time periods have made for increased avalanche danger in the back country.  The front range has seen plenty of snow as well, although not the accumulation of the higher elevations.  Its going to be a cold Thanksgiving in Colorado, but the skiing and snowboarding will be great for this time of year in most places.  Had some fun recently attending the Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers game.  I'm a huge Lakers fan, so I had to rock my Laker gear and root against the hometown team, but it was all good.  It was awesome to see Kobe and Carmelo playing at the top of their game, 2 of the best ballers in the world. Also, checked out Breckenridge to see how it was shaping up and I came away impressed with the conditions.  Had a great time and found some powder even though only 30% of the mountain is open so far, but killed it anyway.  Cant wait to get back up there when the snow allows the patrol to open up the whole mountain.  Other than that, everything is great for me. Hope all is well for everyone out there, i miss you all and hope to see you soon.  Have a happy Thanksgiving.  One love.
